Painting with cut straws !

These beautiful stars/flowers are so easy to make and putti loved making them !!
To make these you will need some drinking straws, scissors, paint (we used crayola kids washable paint) and paper. Hold a straw in one hand. Put one blade of the scissors inside the straw and cut a straight line through the straw. Make more cuts. Fold back the cuts and it looks like a star. Make couple of these as the flowery prints are good only when the straw is 'new' and after a couple of stampings, the prints aren't very neat!
Dip the star end into paint and stamp onto paper

You could twist and turn the straw and create stars or flowers...

Next putti wanted to make some smaller ones, so I cut the straw ends slightly smaller

and we realised it gave better results ...
Then I showed her how these can become the center of a flower, by drawing petals around it. She loved to make some..

We have used straws to make blow paintings before, check them here:
